Client Profile

UBIQ is a premier Philadelphia-based footwear and street apparel boutique. With an emphasis on high-quality gear, progressive designs, and emerging independent brands, UBIQ is at the forefront of the urban-style scene.

Project Scope

For UBIQ’s DC flagship store in Georgetown, Streetsense teamed up with Jennifer Carpenter Architects and served as the Architect of Record. To enhance the former three-story townhouse’s interior aesthetic, Streetsense worked closely with a structural engineer to add exposed steel columns and beams and open up the second floor to create a double height retail experience.

Original brick walls, brass fixtures, and accents of historic wood add texture and character to the space, while blackened steel hang bars and wood joists combine to create a distinctly urban atmosphere. The store’s focal design features are twofold: a custom, aluminum sneaker display with integrated LED lighting, designed to highlight new releases, as well as an ATLAS gallery installation, which draws from the brand’s mantra of “The World Over” and features a wide selection of cultural publications and travel guides.
