Client Profile:

A laid-back neighborhood restaurant from alumni of DC dining institutions Komi and Little Serow, Tail Up Goat in Adams Morgan is a nod to the U.S. Virgin Islands with an emphasis on soulful yet sophisticated fare.

Scope of Work:

For their first venture, the owners of Tail Up Goat turned to Streetsense to design a space that created a casual and convivial experience with refined food. Located on the ground floor of a new condo building, the 3,200 SF space lacked a distinctive character yet needed to convey a personal and charming quality. To reflect the Caribbean upbringing of one of the owners, custom chairs and booths in cheery yellows and blues lend a lightness to the space and seascape-inspired ombré murals create a maritime air. Painted wooden slats and angled ceiling spars shape the space and a waxed teak bar with a curved edge creates warmth. In its first year, the restaurant has become a valued gathering place for other chefs and restaurateurs and has earned a Michelin star.
