Situated just blocks from the White House and the National Mall, JW Marriott’s first and flagship location in Washington, DC is a tribute to its namesake and the nation’s capital.

Project Scope

Recognizing a need to promote its iconic locale and better engage guests, JW Marriott tasked Streetsense with leveraging local market knowledge to develop a compelling social media and content strategy that resonated with a millennial audience, while remaining true to the hotel’s elegant brand standards. Through a combination of custom branded social content — utilizing 360-degree photos, Boomerang videos, Facebooks tabs, and Instagram stories — as well as targeted ad campaigns and online community development initiatives, Streetsense brought forth JW Marriott’s best assets, highlighting Washington’s unparalleled perks and the hotel’s unique amenities.

Within the first year of partnership, Streetsense’s social content reached over one million people and generated nearly 100,000 engagements across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter combined. A 360-degree photo of the National Mall after the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture was the hotel’s best-performing post to date, reaching almost 13,000 people and producing over 900 engagements, while the hotel’s monthly videos garnered an impressive 70,000 views between January 2016 and March 2017. With notable growth in Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, JW Marriott’s new content strategy has elevated its prominence and perception in the DC market.
